Goals and Targets for 2008

in Goals and Targets
As all good business people know goals and targets are incredibly important. People need to be able to measure progress in order to remain motivated. This is our first month here at Technogumption dot com so it seems logical that we should set up some goals and targets for 2008. By writing and publishing this we are making the exercise of target setting more meaningful and more likely to be something we strive to achieve. It also allows us to come back to this list in the future and review our progress. Regularly reviewing progress and seeing which areas you are excelling in and which areas need work is a great way of keeping on track with your growth plan.
Without further ado, our goals and targets for 2008.
1. Build traffic and Increase RSS subscription to 500
As it is our first year, our key goal is to increase our readership. Not only do we want to increase our number of readers, but we want to grow a number of regular readers. These are the people who will be most involved in our blog and keep coming back for more and contributing in the way of comments. This two way communication is what makes blogging so special. This is where you come in, if you like what you see, subscribe to our RSS feed and keep up to date.
2. Meet, network and share knowledge
This is one of the most important goals for the year. We are all learning all the time, and it is important to pass on that information. The phrase “its not what you know but who you know” is so well known and overused for a very simple reason – most of the time its true. I really hope to meet and connect with a wide variety of people from bloggers to entrepreneurs to internet marketers and anyone else who wishes to connect! Please feel free to send us an email. See how else you can connect with us.
3. Post consistently
Another overused phrase that just so happens to be true is “content is king”. It is important to post regularly to keep the website fresh and to encourage repeat visitors. The content also has to be of good quality and add value. There is no point in us simply reproducing content if we do not offer a different perspective or insight.
4. Monetization
We are not going to become the next John Chow or Problogger period. We are not going to plaster adverts everywhere. We would however like to a) Cover the costs involved with creating and running this blog. b) Be rewarded for our efforts. Money motivates – fact! c) Learn about monetization and the various ways of doing this. It is a major part of online business.
Reviewing
We will review this goals in six months and again six months after that.
What are your goals for 2008? How will you be achieving them? Are there any other things you think we should be aiming to achieve in 2008?
